Woven Wool Kerchief | Zahorie, Slovakia

In stock

Origin: Slovakia | Zahorie region
Era: Mid- to late-20th century (post 1950)
Condition: good; couple small stains and tiny holes; expected signs of use; suitable for both wear and display
Measurements: approximately 29″ square
Additional Notes: Very soft and silky woven kerchief from western Slovakia. The fabric is very soft to the touch, so the ground is likely made from very fine wool (but uncertain) with white and blue cotton threads. Once relatively common as festive head coverings for older women in many regions of Slovakia, these have become quite scarce and desirable throughout Europe.
