Additional Notes: Modern Russian printed cotton scarf based on historic kerchiefs produced in the 19th and early 20th century for use with regional folk costumes throughout Russia and Europe. Such scarves were worn in Russia, Ukraine, the Balkans, Sweden, France, Italy, Spain, and other regions. This particular example was made in Russia several years ago as part of a limited-run production of several hundred meters that was available to regional dance groups and in specialty shops.
