Description
Origin: Czechoslovakia
Era: Early 20th century (circa 1910-1930)
Condition: very good; minor wear and aging; suitable for both wear and display
Measurements: 12″ across front | 42″ ribbon bow
Additional Notes: This cap is typical of turn of the century folk dress worn in support of the patriotic movement backing the creation of an independent Czechoslovakia. The cap is based on the Slovak Piestany style, which together with the Moravian Kyjov style became a recognized symbol of the nationalist struggle throughout all of Czechoslovakia. Entirely embroidered by hand with an antique silk ribbon bow on the back. In excellent condition and suitable for wear, but perhaps even more effective as a display piece and a historical artifact of this important era in European history.
