Description
Origin: Czech Republic | Moravia | Probably Ostrozsko region
Era: Early 20th century (circa 1910-1930)
Condition: fair; heavy staining to lace trim; general wear; damage to waistband interior construction; recommended for display only
Measurements (with garments laying flat):
Waistband: 35″
Length: 24″
Additional Notes: A well-loved apron that has seen many generations of use. Likely a wedding apron made of costly painted brocade fabric and embellished with wide lace trim. The lace trim, once starched, has discolored over time and is the main element that shows heavy soiling. It can be removed and washed separately, which would greatly improve the appearance of the antique garment. The waistband was constructed over a piece of thick paper, which has fallen apart and you can feel the loose pieces of paper inside.
