Additional Notes: Bright red cotton scarf with white and blue line designs worn over the shoulders with several varieties of folk costumes in the Netherlands. This particular example was acquired in Staphorst, but as these were commercially manufactured identical scarves were used in a number of regions, including Marken. The reference photos above show girls from Staphorst wearing similar scarves.
