The front of the skirt is made of a less fine linen as it would have traditionally been covered by an apron and thus not visible. The panel at the bottom of the blouse has been added later to make it easier to keep tucked into the skirt. This additional is made of modern fabric and can easily be removed if you wish to have it in the original condition.
