Description

Origin: Macedonia | Tetovo region
Era: Early 20th century (circa 1910-1930)
Condition: fair-good; heavy age and perspiration staining all over; yellowing around a few spots of metal embroidery; embroidery remains in very good condition overall; general wear and signs of age; recommended for display only

Width: 24.5″ side to side fully stretched
   Length: 54″

Additional Notes: Beautifully embroidered linen dress with multicolored wool and metallic thread embroidery. This region is one of the few places in Macedonia that incorporated metallic embroidery into its traditional garments and the amount of embroidery reflected the relative wealth of the wearer and the importance of the occasion. Shows signs of age and decades of use, but remains a nice example of the regional style.
