Additional Notes: Traditional lady’s vest from the Podpolanie region of central Slovakia which includes the villages of Detva, Poniky, Hrinova, Hrochot, among others. Made of black cotton with a delicate embroidered floral motif that’s not overwhelming, but just enough to give it a graceful femininity. Lined with homespun linen. There may have been some decorative clasps or buttons on the front at one time, but they would have been removed a long time ago and replaced by hook-and-eye fasteners, which are now also ready to be replaced as many are missing or rusted.
