Condition: fair-good; varying degrees of wear and deterioration; tarnished; two medallions have broken loops of which one has a newer hole made for hanging

Additional Notes: Collection of four historic dukach pendants worn with traditional Ukrainian costumes. Show varying degrees of wear and age. Each is shown above with similar reference examples from a book on Ukrainian dukach. The front of each depicts Catherine the Great and there are two different religious images on the backs – three feature Mary and Child. Such medallions were more affordable than elaborate silver or gold dukach jewelry and were thus a common element of peasant women’s dress during the 19th and 20th century. Authentic historic artifacts most suitable for display.
