Additional Notes: Striking ensemble from the Piestany region in western Slovakia. The blouse is made from fine cotton and decorated with yellow and white hand embroidery and cutwork on the sleeves and collar. The size of the blouse is a bit hard to measure due to its cut, so please go by the vest measurements to help determine if this costume is the right fit for you as the vest is more constricting than the blouse. The vest is made from lovely floral brocade fabric and trimmed with floral ribbon. The front fastens with antique metal clasps and since the loop sides are broken someone has sewn loops into the fabric so that the hooks still fasten and the buckles appear to be complete when worn. There is some splitting to the vest fabric around the area where the waist ribbon gets tied. This is not a problem for display, but you will want to be mindful of this if you intend to wear it as it could continue to split. The matching skirt and apron set are hand embroidered on black fabric and edged with lovely lace trim. The original wide waistbands made of antique cotton print fabric are still present and only have minor age spotting. The costume is completed by a newer floral ribbon sash that ties around the waist.
