Additional Notes: This style of apron was worn in the villages around Tekov/Cajkov in the 19th and early 20th century and was replaced by a more colorful version once floral brocade fabric became available in the region around WWII. An unusually wide waistband was a unique feature of the aprons in this region and helped give the costume its characteristic shape. Made of heavy polished cotton and hand embroidered over fine pleats. Decorated with bead and sequins trim around the waist and the bottom of the apron. Folds into a small bundle that preserves the folds when in storage.
