Additional Notes: Traditional Mijak woman’s outer garment with archaic vestigial sleeves that have remained as decorative elements on these unusual garments. Called a klashenik, this garment was typically worn for weddings and other important holidays. Fulled wool with sewn on fabric, trim and couching embroidery along the bottom. Much of the garment is left plain as those areas would traditionally be covered by other elements of the festive dress as shown in the reference photo included above. When the full costume is worn, the most visible area of this garment is the bottom edge, explaining the placement of most of the decoration.
