Additional Notes: Traditional woman’s vest from the village of Hrusov in southern Slovakia. Made of orange/yellow floral brocade and embellished with various types of trim, sequins, and embroidery. By the mid 20th century this region developed a rather unusual style where the vests were made somewhat small and then fastened by long loops in the front. The reference image above shows a woman in this type of vest with the loops visible in the front. If desired, the loops can be made smaller or removed entirely if you wish to wear it fully closed.
