Description

Origin: Macedonia | Kichevo area
Era: Early 20th century (circa 1910-1930)
Condition: very good; missing buttons; minor color transfer in underarm area; suitable for both wear and display
Measurements (with garments laying flat):
Width: 29″ between sides spread out flat (as shown in first photo)
   Length: 27″
Additional Notes: Impressive woman’s vest made of thick natural color wool from the Kichevo area of Macedonia. The vest has a characteristic cut for this region with side seams that actually lay on the back when worn making it difficult to measure accurately. The width measurement above corresponds more or less to the waist size when fully closed. However, the vest is often worn open as shown in the last image above. Decorated with metallic embroidery, wool trim, and metal and glass buttons. Some of the glass buttons are missing, but we do have a small stock of these available for purchase separately in case you would like to complete them. Still very presentable in the current condition. A fine example of the local style.
