Additional Notes: Highly embellished metallic vests such as this one were popular throughout the Ottoman Empire and were often made by skilled craftsmen in urban centers. Lined with printed cotton. Includes all 16 decorative wrapped buttons. Based on the shape and designs, this vest likely originates from the area of Serbia or Kosovo, but there is little published research into regional differentiation. The reference image above is of a woman from Pristina, Kosovo and clearly shows similar narrow flaps in the front and rows of buttons along the sides.
