Hand-Knit Brown & Silver Socks | Kosovo

In stock

Origin: Kosovo
Era: Mid-20th century (post 1950)
Condition: good; faded; likely never used; suitable for both wear and display
Measurements: 9″ from toe to heel | 13″ total length from toe to top
Additional Notes: An impressive pair of handmade socks from Kosovo. The socks look very nice, but under closer examination of the inside you can see they are quite faded from the original colors. They were likely used for display in direct sunlight so the exposed areas are now muted. You can also see the original colors on the concealed parts of the pompoms and on the back of the heel where they are folded (see photos). All in all this doesn’t greatly detract from the socks if you like the more subdued coloring and plan to wear them. These were probably part of a woman’s bridal dowry and never saw any use as there are no signs of wear and they are still attached together.
