Description

Origin: Romania | Moldavia | Csango ethnic group
Era: WWII era (circa 1930-1950)
Condition: good-very good; very faint stain under left sleeve; minor fugitive dye stains; couple small/insignificant rust colored spots; suitable for both wear and display
Measurements (with garments laying flat):
Across front: 29″ side to side fully stretched out
   Length: 21″
Sleeves: 25″ from collar to cuff | 15″ inseam
Additional Notes: A striking embroidered blouse from the Csango Hunagrian ethnic minority living in the Moldavia region of Romania. Beautifully embroidered sleeves with tiny glass beads incorporated into the designs on the shoulders. Traditional string tie gathered collar that can be adjusted to fit any size. Note the traditional cut of this blouse with low underarms resulting in a shorter inseam length for a full length sleeve. The blouse has been freshly hand washed three times to remove much of the staining, but a very faint stain remains on the left underarm (might come out with subsequent washes, but faint enough to not be a concern). There is also a tiny bit of fugitive due transfer in a couple of spots, but much lighter than when acquired and hardly noticeable (see last two photos before reference image). Very durable and perfect for modern wear. The final reference image above shows this type of blouse worn with the full regional costume in the early 1900’s.
