Description: Publication presenting and documenting the unique collection of bobbin lace patterns. The lace patterns once belonged to two important lace makers in Rostov that supplied handmade lace for the urban merchant class. The collection includes 106 patterns for lace used for ritual cloths, household linens, bedding, and other textiles. The patterns are reproduced in two ways: scans of the right side of the pattern and negative images taken by shining light from behind the pattern clearly showing the pin holes. Includes images of both the original lace makers and documents related to them and their legacy.
