Condition: good; normal wear consistent with age/use; some beads and sequins missing from trim; uneven fading to embroidery; suitable for both wear and display
Measurements: 29.5″ long
Additional Notes: This style of apron was worn in the villages around Tekov/Cajkov/Levice in the 19th and early 20th century and was replaced by a more colorful version once floral brocade fabric became available in the region around WWII. An unusually wide waistband was a unique feature of the aprons in this region and helped give the costume its characteristic shape. Made of heavy polished cotton and hand embroidered over fine pleats. Decorated with beaded sequin trim around the waist. Folds into a small bundle that preserves the folds when in storage.
