Origin: Ottoman Empire | Greece
Era: 19th century (pre-1900)
Condition: suitable for both wear and display
Measurements: approximately 3″ wide
Additional Notes: This style of bracelet was worn throughout the Balkan region including Greece, Bulgaria, Albania, and in other countries of the former Ottoman empire. Typically known as fertility bracelets, the bracelets have round hemispheres on each side that are sometimes said to symbolize female breasts and protect girls and young women. The small wrist opening results in this example being more suited for display than wear.
